Former Adaptive Materials executive Michelle Crumm appointed to WMU board of trustees

Governor Rick Snyder announced Thursday he is appointing Ann Arbor entrepreneur Michelle Crumm to the Western Michigan University board of trustees.

Crumm co-founded Adaptive Materians Inc. with her husband Aaron Crumm and continued to work at the innovative company until United Kingdom-based Ultra Electronics acquired it at the end of 2010. She and her husband were acknowledged as the executives of the year at AnnArbor.com’s Deals of the Year event in 2011.

Since leaving the company, Crumm has remained busy. She is the owner and CEO of Present Value, LLC, an executive coaching company, sits on the boards of multiple non-profit organizations in Ann Arbor, and has been active in the venture capital world through angel investing.

“Michelle and [fellow appointee] Ron [Hall] are outstanding Michiganders and business professionals,” Snyder said in a statement. “I am confident they will do great work on behalf of Western Michigan University.”

Crumm and Hall will serve an eight-year term on the eight-member board which will end in December 2020.
