The Traffic Research Institute at U-M won the 2012 AnnArbor.com Deals of the Year research award for leading the connected-car study funded by the US Department of Transportation that is attempting to create a system where cars interact with other vehicles as well as stoplights and other traffic infrastructure.
Another technology highlighted on the list was hatched by two students and incubated at the university’s TechArb accelerator on East Liberty Street. The TurtleCell phone case keeps headphones untangled and easily accessible and its creators are planning to launch a KickStarter campaign next year.
