Ann Arbor police are investigating six break-ins that occurred over the weekend at homes and nonprofit organizations, police said Monday morning.
Four homes and two businesses reported being broken into with items stolen, Ann Arbor police Lt. Renee Bush said. Police are investigating the break-ins but police do not believe they’re related.
“There’s no pattern we’ve been able to establish to this point, they’re all separate,” she said.
The first home invasion was reported Saturday morning in the 800 block of Dartmoor Road.
The homeowner woke up at 3:53 a.m. Saturday after hearing someone enter the home through an unlocked door. The homeowner told police the person was 5-feet-8-inches tall and thin, but the resident did not know the person’s race or sex, Bush said. Nothing was reported taken from that home.
The next break-in was reported at 11:39 a.m. Saturday at the House By the Side of the Road, 824 Phoenix Drive in Ann Arbor. Bush said the door to the nonprofit organization was damaged and cash and coins were reported stolen.
At 12:47 p.m. Saturday, a 63-year-old Ann Arbor man reported his home in the 1200 block of Snyder was broken into. The man told police he woke at 11 a.m., went into his living room and found his laptop and two digital cameras were missing.
Bush said the intruder, or intruders, entered through an unlocked door.
On Sunday, residents of a home in the 2100 block of Springwood Court discovered someone broke into their home through an unsecured door. The residents, both in their 60s, reported the incident at 11:18 a.m. Sunday. An iPad, Kindle and two laptops were stolen from the residence, Bush said.
A second Ann Arbor nonprofit organization was broken into sometime between 1 and 11:40 a.m. Sunday.
On Sunday morning, an employee at the Ann Arbor Art Center, 117 W. Liberty St., found the front glass door to the building was broken. Bush said a glass donation box was discovered broken and an unknown amount of cash was taken.
The final home invasion reported during the weekend came at 11:47 p.m. Sunday in the 3600 block of Wellington Cross Road.
Police went to the home after a burglary alarm was set off and it appeared someone entered through a broken window in the back of the house, Bush said. A picture and a tapestry were stolen. Police did not have a value estimate on the stolen items.
Police were unable to get suspect descriptions for any of the break-ins, aside from the one on Dartmoor Road. Investigations into each of the incidents are on going.
