The Dexter schools Board of Education has a candidate in mind for the interim superintendent job when Mary Marshall leaves for a new position in a few weeks, the Dexter Leader reports.
Dennis Desmarais, a longtime educator from the Riverview Community School District, toured the district and met with administrators and officials last week, the report said.
The board was impressed with Desmarais, who served in Riverview for 36 years, five as superintendent before retiring in June 2011, the Leader said. Officials expect to approve his appointment at the next board meeting on Dec. 17.
Marshall is leaving Dexter after 20 years in the district. She is to become the superintendent for Pentwater Public Schools, a small school district located in Pentwater Township along Lake Michigan, about 80 miles north of Grand Rapids.
