A Scarlett Middle School student was taken to an urgent care facility after allegedly being assaulted by a Huron High School student Wednesday, police said.
Ann Arbor police were dispatched to the middle school at 4:04 p.m. Wednesday after receiving a report of an assault, Lt. Renee Bush confirmed.
Officers were then informed the incident occurred off-campus, near the corner of Lorraine Street and La Salle Drive. The suspect had already left the scene, Bush said.
The middle school student, a boy, was taken to urgent care with a swollen upper lip, a small laceration on the cheek and a bloody nose. Police did not have any information about how the assault started. They continue to investigate.
Police did not release the names or ages of the juveniles or whether the high schooler, also a boy, was being charged with assault.
Liz Margolis, spokeswoman for Ann Arbor Public Schools, confirmed the middle school student was injured by the Huron student, but would not say whether the high schooler was disciplined.
"This incident did happen off campus, but both schools are very aware of the situation and are addressing it within our abilities," she wrote in an email.
