Ann Arbor police are investigating one home invasion and one attempted break-in in the city reported Saturday, including one where the resident managed to get a glimpse of the suspect as he fled.
Ann Arbor police Lt. Renee Bush said a 47-year-old Ann Arbor man heard the back door to his home in the 600 block of North Fourth Avenue being kicked in at 12:12 a.m. Saturday.
Bush said the man he heard the loud banging noise on the back door and then the house’s alarm going off. He managed to see the man running away and described him as 5-feet-10 inches tall, stocky, wearing a dark colored puffy jacket and a dark colored hat.
Nothing was reported stolen from that home, but another Ann Arbor residence wasn’t so lucky.
Sometime between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday, a home in the 3000 block of Cherry Tree Lane was broken into. The intruder — or intruders — broke out the window to a front door, Bush said.
Three laptops, cellphones, jewelry, a camera and cash were all reported stolen from the home, according to Bush.
There was no suspect information to release from that home invasion. Anyone with information about either incident is encouraged to call the Ann Arbor police anonymous tip line at 734-794-6939 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP (773-2587).
