Deputies are investigating two home invasions reported Tuesday in Ypsilanti Township where unknown intruders used back doors to gain entry to houses.

According to a statement released by the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday, investigators are looking for information regarding break-ins in the 400 block of Harris Road and the 20 block of Ohio Avenue. Both incidents occurred during the daytime hours, according to deputies.

The home on Harris was broken into through a rear door. A camera, iPod, checkbook and medication were reported stolen.

Deputies reported that an intruder smashed a sliding glass door in the back of the home. Deputies said the incident occurred sometime between 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The only item reported stolen to deputies to this point is an iPod.

There was no suspect description available for either break-in Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, a home in the same block of Ohio Avenue was severely damaged by a house fire caused by faulty wiring in a bedroom closet.

Anyone with information on these home invasions is encouraged to call the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office anonymous tip line at 734-973-7711 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP (773-2587).
