The family of the three people killed in a Christmas Day crash in Lyon Township is asking people to pray for the driver of the car that drifted over the center line and caused the crash, according to a report in the Observer & Eccentric.
Mary Ann Hammon, 68; Jack Hammon, 71; and Judith Shedell, 66, were killed when a 31-year-old Livonia woman crossed the center line and struck their vehicle. The three Salem Township residents died at the scene of the crash.
Now, Bettie Jo Nunez, Jack Hammon’s sister, is asking people to pray for the 31-year-old woman.
“There are people out there who do malicious things, but this isn’t one of them,” Nunez told the Observer & Eccentric. “Accidents happen and this is a very tragic accident. We have all made mistakes behind the wheel and have been very grateful that we weren’t struck by tragedy.”
The Hammons and Shedell were in a 2007 Honda Civic headed eastbound on 8 mile Road west of Currie Road when they collided with a 2004 Ford Taurus head on. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, according to police.
