Eastern Michigan University President Susan Martin has been re-appointed to the Michigan Education Trust board of directors.
Martin, an accountant and businesswoman by training and a former administrator at University of Michigan's Dearborn campus and Grand Valley State University, represents presidents of four-year public universities on the nine-person board.
She was appointed by Gov. Rick Snyder.
The committee serves as an advisory board for the Michigan Education Savings Program, run through the Michigan Department of Treasury.
This is Martin's second three-year term on the board. Her appointment will expire Dec. 31, 2015, and is subject to approval of the state Senate.
Robert Ferrentino, president of Montcalm Community College, also will serve on the board, representing presidents of community colleges.
The Michigan Education Savings program is a tax-deferred savings and investment account available to families saving for college.
