The Ann Arbor man severely burned in a small plane crash in Florida is a professor in the School of Art and Design at the University of Michigan.

The dean’s office at the School of Art and Design has been in touch with members of Jackson’s family, some of whom are with Jackson in Florida, University of Michigan spokesman Rick Fitzgerald said.
Jackson is teaching two classes at the university this semester, Fitzgerald said.
Jackson’s biography lists him as a professor in the School of Art & Design and in the Taubman College of Architecture & Urban Planning and in the Ross School of Business. He holds “more than 50 patents and has received national and international honors, including the prestigious IDEA award from Business Week,” according to the biography. His firm Shaun Jackson Design Inc. “serves clients such as Apple Computer, Dell, Toshiba, General Electric Medical Systems, Herman Miller, Nike, L.L. Bean, Eddie Bauer, Harley Davidson, and Patagonia,” the biography states.
Authorities said 70-year-old John Ardoyno of Hayward, Wis., was killed in Saturday's crash, The Associated Press reported.
Sarasota County Fire Department spokeswoman Capt. Susan Pearson said the seaplane crashed as Ardoyno tried to take off from the airport, AP reported. Pearson said the plane could not gain enough altitude. Witnesses told the Sarasota Herald-Tribune the plane was flying low and dipping in the air.
