Tim Hortons marketing intern Lauren Schwecke said, via email, the shop opened in late December and is planning a grand opening event Jan. 31 through Feb. 2.
The franchise owner of the coffee shop, which is open 24 hours a day, is Elias Sayah.
Plans to build the Tim Hortons at the northeast corner of State and Ellsworth Road were approved by Ann Arbor City Council in April 2012. The former Enzo’s Sports Bar building was demolished and a 1,953-square-foot restaurant with drive-thru facilities was constructed in its place. The property owner is First Martin Corporation.
With 4,042 company-operated and franchised stores, the Ontario-based chain is rapidly expanding its southeast Michigan footprint. The coffee shop has been active in the Ann Arbor real estate market, and it recently opened stores on Ann Arbor-Saline Road and South University.
In August 2011, the chain announced plans to open a store at 175 N. Maple, the former Golden Chef site in the Maple Village shopping center, but a site plan was never submitted for that location.
