Two men were apprehended Thursday -- one while trying to run across U.S. 23 -- after leading police on a chase from the scene of a possible home invasion in Webster Township, police said.
Deputies from the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office were called to a residence in the 9000 block of South Hamberg Road for a possible home invasion in progress around 2 p.m. and saw a vehicle speeding away, Sgt. Geoff Fox said
Police chased the vehicle to Whitmore Lake Road where it crashed into a telephone pole near U.S. 23. Both men got out of the car and ran. One man attempted to cross the freeway and was captured there by deputies.
"The other one ran into the woods and got caught a little bit later," Fox said.
The men were taken into custody. Police did not yet have information to release about the men's ages or where they were from. The home invasion investigation continues. More information was expected to be released Friday.
