The Ann Arbor man police believe robbed a Check 'N Go turned himself in to authorities without incident Monday afternoon, Det. William Stanford said.

The surrender comes the same day James Romell Robinson, 23, told police he was not turning himself in.

Stanford said Robinson turned himself into detectives at 1:30 p.m. Monday, but would not elaborate on where or how.

“He’s cooperative and he’s being processed,” Stanford said.

Robinson is expected to be arraigned Tuesday on two counts of armed robbery and two counts of unarmed robbery. He is being held in the Washtenaw County Jail.

"We're happy he's in custody," Stanford said.

Robinson walked into the Check ‘N Go at 1912 W. Stadium Blvd. in Ann Arbor on Jan. 11 and passed a note to a teller implying he had a weapon, according to police. He allegedly took cash and forced all the other tellers in the shop on the ground before fleeing the area on foot.
