Sharon Irvine was interviewed by the Tecumseh Board of Education Thursday, according to a report in The Daily Telegram in Adrian. The report states a special board meeting is set for Monday night to choose two finalists.

Irvine declined to comment on her status as a candidate Monday afternoon, saying it’s still early in the selection process and anything could happen.

Superintendent searches are a public process. The Michigan Association of School Boards has been guiding the Tecumseh school board through its search. Current Superintendent Michael McAran will retire at the end of the 2012-13 school year, after 47 years in education, the Telegram reports.

According to the Telegram, Irvine worked at several schools in the San Diego, Calif., area before coming to Ypsilanti Public Schools in 1997. She taught elementary school and eventually became principal at Perry Child Development Center.

Irvine left Ypsilanti for a six-year stint to serve as principal of Northville Public Schools’ Thornton Creek Elementary. She returned to Ypsilanti and has held her position as human resources executive director since 2011, the Telegram reports.
