Lt. Marlene Radzik
The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office announced Monday that Marlene Radzik has been promoted from a sergeant to a lieutenant.
Radzik will be the next police services lieutenant, according to a news release from Sheriff Jerry L. Clayton.
“Marlene is respected among her peers and brings a wealth of experience and professional insight into what works well in assuring the timely and effective delivery of community-based police services,” Dieter Heren, police services commander for the sheriff's office, stated in the release.
Radzik has worked in Washtenaw County for nearly 24 years as a corrections officer, deputy sheriff, LAWNET detective and police services sergeant, which included shift supervision. She presently serves as the Lodi-Manchester community sergeant and the deputy commander of the Metro-Crisis Negotiation Team. She will remain in the Lodi-Manchester position until a transition can take place at an appropriate time, according to the release.
In the past, Radzik has served as acting lieutenant while managing a special neighborhood enforcement team that focused on the Macarthur Boulevard area in Superior Township. She has also been on the Underwater Search and Recovery Team.
“Lieutenant Radzik loves her job, her peers and this community,” Derrick Jackson, director of community engagement, said in the release. “When I think of Marlene, I think of the great work she did while working with the residents of Macarthur Boulevard and the way she pulled a community together to focus on the root causes of addiction and prostitution with the E.A.S.Y. project.”
The promotion comes a few months before Lt. Troy Bevier is set to retire in April, according to Jackson.
