By looking at domain names the company had purchased, University of Michigan freshman Mark Gurman was the first to realize that Apple would be developing a tablet.

According to a story from Crain’s Detroit Business, Gurman was still attending high school in Los Angeles when he took his hunch to leading blog 9to5Mac.

The industry-focused website founded in 2007 averages nearly 1 million page views a day, the blog’s editor Seth Weintraub said. Weintraub hired Gurman as a reporter and his work for the publication earned him the title of “Best Apple Reporter in the World” from Business Insider.

According to the Crain’s report, Gurman is currently studying a wide range of subjects at U-M including calculus and communications, but has his sights set on attending the Ross School of Business next year.
