A little more than a month after intruders stole cellphones during a break-in at an Ypsilanti Township Radio Shack, the same store was targeted again early Tuesday.

Deputies responded to the Radio Shack, 2453 Ellsworth Road, at 4 a.m. Tuesday after an alarm went off, according to the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said someone shattered the front glass door while entering the business.

Evidence showed the intruder, or intruders, attempted to steal cellphones from a locked cabinet but it’s unknown at this point if they were successful.

Deputies are working with store officials to determine if anything was stolen from the store during the latest incident.

The incident came after a Jan. 9 break-in at the same store.

In that incident, someone broke into the store through the front door at 6 a.m. and stole numerous cellphones. By the time deputies arrived at Radio Shack, whoever broke into the store fled.

Sgt. Geoffrey Fox said deputies are still investigating whether the incidents are related.

"We're still looking into any ties between previous ones and other ones in the area," he said.

The Radio Shack does have security cameras, but deputies have not received the video of the incident yet, Fox said.

Anyone with information about these two incidents is encouraged to call the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office anonymous tip line at 734-973-7711 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP (773-2587).
