In case you missed the initial announcement, this voting is one step in a project to name the best "haunted house" in Michigan. (And by "haunted house" we mean any scary, Halloween-themed attraction open to the general public.)
We're doing this in conjunction with MLive, our statewide partner website. Once we have the top choices from various areas, as chosen in our polls and from other recommendations, Michigan entertainment reporter John "Gonzo" Gonzalez will visit all the finalists and ultimately name a winner, just in time for Halloween.
Here's Gonzo's take on what we're seeking: "We're looking at the total experience: Scare factor, set design, quality of actors, special effects, originality and how many times I run for the exit signs. We'll accept corn mazes and other attractions, too. But they have to fit the concept of a Haunted House, and they have to be open to the public."
So, thanks for the suggestions of what to include in our local poll. Note: We're listing local favorite Brandywine Cemetery here; it's only open Oct. 30-31, so the timing might not work for the statewide judging, but I didn't want to shut it out of the voting (and we'll plan to do a story on it regardless). So here are your choices:
