The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office is investigating the weekend theft of a generator and equipment worth more than $9,000 from a Sylvan Township construction site.
Deputies responded Monday to the 2000 block of McKernan, just south of Interstate 94, for the report of a larceny that occurred sometime during the weekend, according to a news release.
A new Chelsea Chevrolet Buick Dealership is being constructed on the site and workers had left a large pull-behind generator. Deputies said that the thief or thieves "cut the chain securing the equipment, hooked the generator up to a vehicle and drove away."
The generator also housed several tools. It is described as a "Sulair, green in color, spare tire mounted on tongue, fenders and a rear-bumper."
There were no suspects.
