Marcus Wilson, 18, was in the 14A-1 District Court Thursday morning for a preliminary exam, which he waived, records show. He will return to court for a pretrial hearing at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 18 in front of Washtenaw County Trial Court Judge David Swartz, according to court records.
Wilson was charged last week with first-degree home invasion, second-degree home invasion and first-degree criminal sexual conduct. Ann Arbor police said Wilson broke into a home in the 1200 block of Oakland Avenue at 1 a.m. July 3 and entered the bedroom of a woman living in the apartment.
Wilson is accused of raping the woman in her bed before fleeing from the apartment. Police have called the incident “heinous” and “nightmarish.”
Wilson is also accused of breaking into an apartment in the 700 block of South Forest Avenue on June 19. Investigators from the Ann Arbor Police Department noticed similarities between the two break-ins and identified Wilson as a suspect. He was found in the Washtenaw County Jail, where he’s serving time for unlawfully driving away an automobile. He was sentenced in that case in August.
Wilson, who's still in jail serving the August sentence, is being held on a $125,000 bond.
If convicted, he faces a maximum of life in prison on the first-degree criminal sexual conduct charge.
