Jeffrey Randolph, 49, of Ypsilanti, died when the 2004 Chevrolet Aveo he was driving ran off northbound U.S. 23 near the Carpenter Road Exit shortly after 10 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

The car crossed both northbound lanes of U.S. 23 and entered the median, where it began to roll, Michigan State Police said in a press release. The car came to rest in the left lane of southbound U.S. 23. Randolph, who police believe was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash was the second of two fatal crashes in Washtenaw County Wednesday. A 38-year-old Ypsilanti Township man died when the box truck he was driving crashed into a tree on Whittaker Road near Sea Mist Drive about 7:15 a.m. Wednesday.
