A 24-year-old man was arrested Sunday after stealing a check from the purse of the mother of his child, according to Ypsilanti police.
Investigators responded at 10:40 a.m. Sunday to the 600 block of Pearl Street. A woman reported the father of her child took a check out of her purse while he was visiting. The check was worth $300, according to police.
The man fled the area immediately, but officers arrested him later after a foot chase, police said.
The man, who is yet to be arraigned on criminal charges, is lodged at the Washtenaw County Jail. He was arrested on suspicion of larceny from a building; violating a personal protection order; attempted breaking and entering; assaulting, resisting or obstructing a police officer and four bench warrants, according to police.
