A 21-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday after she was accused of punching a police officer in the face and threatening her boyfriend with a large butcher knife.

Ypsilanti police said officers were sent at 10 p.m. Wednesday to the 700 block of Maus Avenue because a woman was attempting to get into a residence while carrying a butcher knife. Police arrived and talked to the woman, whom police described as “violent.”

Police said the woman resisted arrest and punched an officer in the face. Eventually, she was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and resisting and obstructing a police officer.

The woman’s boyfriend told police they were having an argument over money.

Police are still investigating the incident.
