Downed wires caused about 780 customers in the area of North Maple and Dexter Road to lose power, according to DTE Energy.
That outage affects Abbot Elementary, Ann Arbor Public Schools officials said. As a result, the building will be closed on Friday.
Power is expected to be restored to the neighborhood, bordered on the west by M-14, by about 4 p.m.
In that same area, Washtenaw County Sheriff's officials are warning motorists that a felled tree and the downed wires have resulted in some road closings. They're advising alternative routes and have set up a detour.
Ann Arbor police officials said about 8:30 a.m. Friday the area should open back up shortly. According to police, a tree fell down due to the storm Thursday night and brought down wires across the road.
Police said DTE Energy crews were on scene clearing the area at 8:30 a.m. and the road closure was not expected to last much longer. One crew was on scene and a second was en route shortly before 9 a.m., according to police.
Meanwhile, Ypsilanti Middle School also is closed on Friday. Details on that closing were not available early Friday.
This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
