Pittsfield Township police investigated two shootings within four hours overnight, with both victims suffering what officers called non-life threatening injuries.
The first incident took place just before 11 p.m. Sunday, when officers were called to the 3500 block of Fieldcrest on the township's east side near Golfside and Ellsworth.
A 45-year old man who lives in the township was taken to an area hospital, according to a news release.
"This incident is not a random act of violence and the victim and suspect were known to each other," according to the release.
The investigation continued early Monday, police said.
In the second incident, police were called to a local hospital after a 25-year-old man turned up in the emergency room with a gunshot wound.
Police said the victim was parked in a parking lot at Carpenter Road and East Ellsworth at about 2:27 a.m. Monday. He " indicated to police that he accidentally discharged his firearm in a vehicle while in a parking lot and it struck him in a non-vital area," according to a news release.
A friend took him to the hospital, police said.
"The victim was in lawful possession of the firearm that was discharged," police said.
Police said the incidents were not connected.
