Pittsfield Township police arrested a 25-year-old Sebewaing, Mich. man after he brandished a shotgun during a robbery at a gas station, investigators said Monday.
Police were dispatched at 9:58 a.m. Monday to the BP station at 4975 Washtenaw Ave. for a report of a person wearing a mask and holding a shotgun. The suspect fled in a vehicle as officers arrived at the scene of the robbery.
A witness notified investigators that the suspect pulled into a location off of Golfside Road and a search began. The K-9 unit shared by the Ypsilanti Police Department and Pittsfield Township Police Department was called in.
An officer eventually found the man and took him into custody. The investigation has been turned over to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office for potential charges.
It’s the second robbery at a Washtenaw Avenue BP station in the past three days. The Ann Arbor Police Department is investigating a similar incident on Saturday when a man robbed the BP station at 3720 Washtenaw Ave. with a long gun, according to police.
Both incidents were along Washtenaw Avenue and involved men in ski masks using guns to rob the gas station. It’s unknown at this time whether the incidents are related.
