A 21-year-old Belleville man accused of assisting in the kidnapping of a woman in Ypsilanti last month asked for a three-week adjournment at his first pretrial hearing in the Washtenaw County Trial Court Wednesday.

Raymond March requested an adjournment as the prosecution and defense continue to discuss a possible resolution to the case.

Assistant Washtenaw County Prosecutor Dianna Collins said she would be looking for sentencing guidelines in the range of a 43-86 month prison term.

Judge Archie Brown adjourned the case until July 17.

March is charged with unlawful imprisonment, conspiracy to commit unlawful imprisonment and interfering with the reporting of a crime and aggravated assault for his alleged involvement in Farrah Cook's abduction.

Police say March and Cook's ex-boyfriend Jeremy Abston, 27, of Ypsilanti Township, forced Cook into a car in the parking lot of an Ypsilanti apartment complex and drove her to another nearby apartment on May 6.

March is said to have left the apartment soon after the three arrived because they heard on a smartphone police scanner application officers were looking for them, according to Cook's testimony at Abston's preliminary examination.

Cook eventually broke free of Abston after being held against her will at the apartment for several more hours.

March was later arrested at an Inkster home and waived his preliminary examination. Abston, who was bound over on all charges last week at his preliminary exam, was taken into custody weeks later at a home in Detroit.

Abston is charged with unlawful imprisonment, conspiracy to commit unlawful imprisonment, interfering with the reporting of a crime, assault with a dangerous weapon, larceny in a building, three charges of interfering with electronic communications, aggravated domestic violence, assault and battery and malicious destruction of property worth less than $200.

He is next set to appear in court July 17. Both men remain in the Washtenaw County Jail on $250,000 cash bonds.
