Ann Arbor police made 30 percent more drunken driving arrests in 2012 and East Lansing police made 40 percent fewer, but the East Lansing police still outpaced their Big Ten brethren, according to an MLive report.
In a comparison of the police agencies at and around Michigan’s two Big Ten universities, MLive found the Michigan State University Police Department and the East Lansing Police Department outpaced their University of Michigan and Ann Arbor counterparts.
The Ann Arbor police made 132 drunken driving arrests in 2012, compared to 386 in by the ELPD. The MSUPD arrested 255 drunken drivers in 2012, compared to 61 for the U-M police.
