Here's the schedule for tonight's Top of the Park, the free (donations welcome), outdoor component of the Ann Arbor Summer Festival. Descriptions provided by the festival. Top of the Park takes place in the area around East Washington Street at Ingalls Mall, except as noted.
4 p.m.: Tangle - South Ingalls Mall
Tangle takes place in a space like a giant pegboard, children and families create a landscape together, weaving elastic in many colors around tall slender poles.
5 p.m.: KidZone: Huron River Watershed Council - KidZone Tent
Color, cut, and assemble your own hero mask while you learn tips for saving water, energy, and money, and reducing your carbon footprint.
5 p.m.: Bill Edwards - Grove Stage
With outstanding instrumentation and a warm tenor voice, Bill Edward’s take on contemporary country will leave you wanting more.
6 p.m.: Spontaneous Art - South Ingalls Mall
Ann Arbor’s urban intervention specialists Spontaneous Art create interactive performances that bring bystanders together for moments of communal laughter, social connectivity, and flashes of creativity.
6 p.m.: The Understorey - Grove Stage
Come hear compelling originals and covers, upbeat and rhythmic folk rock with country roots by local duo, The Understorey.
Linchpins in the Ypsi/Ann Arbor indie folk scene, Misty Lyn and The Big Beautiful have been drawing crowds to festivals across Michigan with their self-proclaimed blend of “gothic folk.”
7:30 p.m.: Tangle - South Ingalls Mall
Tangle is where children take control and create a giant abstract visually stunning artwork in public spaces, by stretching their bodies and their imaginations.
8:30 p.m.: Black Jake & The Carnies - Rackham Stage
Bluegrass crashes into punk at high-speeds as Ypsilanti’s Black Jake & The Carnies return to Top of the Park for a rollicking set of fast paced picking and lyrical mayhem.
10 p.m.: Movie: "Young Frankenstein" - Rackham Stage
Dr. Frankenstein’s grandson, after years of living down the family reputation, inherits granddad’s castle and repeats the experiments.
