The 23-year-old Ypsilanti Township man suspected of using Facebook and text messages to seduce underage girls had his preliminary examination adjourned Tuesday in the 14A-1 District Court.
The preliminary examination was rescheduled on Oct. 30 due to a second girl coming forward and an additional set of charges, police said.
Paul Joseph Creps was arraigned last week on two more third-degree criminal sexual conduct charges related to a second victim, a 15-year-old Ypsilanti girl, said Sgt. Geoff Fox of the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office.
Police located the second girl through Creps’ cell phone, where they also found numerous pictures of underage girls, many of whom were unclothed, police have said.
The detective in the case began going through the numbers on the phone and contacting various girls, which is how the 15-year-old Ypsilanti girl was located. The first victim was described as an Ypsilanti Township girl who was under 16. Creps faces two third-degree CSC charges in that case as well, bringing the tally to four total charges.
Fox said as detectives continue to investigate more victims and charges could be forthcoming.
Creps is suspected of using social media sites like Facebook to find underage girls. He would ‘friend’ them and start a text messaging relationship with them.
"(He) parlayed that into getting her to do sexual acts," Fox said of the newest female to step forward.
While executing a search warrant at Creps' Ypsilanti Township residence, they recovered around three computers that are being forensically evaluated, Fox said.
Police continue to urge parents to ask their daughters if they had any possible contact with Creps. The contact at the sheriff's office regarding this case is Detective Everette Robbins who can be reached at (734) 973-4884.
Creps is being held at the Washtenaw County Jail. A $75,000 cash or surety bond was set on the first two charges. A $100,000 cash bond was set at last week's arraignment.
