A 19-year-old man police believe shot another man in the stomach at an Ypsilanti party Sunday morning was arrested outside a Lansing hotel Thursday.

Jared Douglas Marks, of Ypsilanti Township, was expected to be arraigned Friday afternoon on charges related to the shooting, according to a release from Ypsilanti police.

The Ypsilanti Police Department, working with the Michigan State Police First District Fugitive Team, got a tip Marks was in the Lansing area. He was subsequently arrested without incident coming out of a hotel.

Investigators executed a search warrant at the hotel room and located what they believe was the .38 caliber revolver used in the shooting.

Police brought Marks back to Ypsilanti for questioning. He was then held at the Washtenaw County Jail, where he will be arraigned, a news release said.

The victim, a 21-year-old Ypsilanti Township man, remains hospitalized, but is expected to recover.

Police were dispatched around 1:50 a.m. Sunday to the 800 block of Green Road in Ypsilanti to investigate a report of shots fired, AnnArbor.com has reported. When police arrived, officers were told the victim had been transported to the hospital by friends.

During their investigation, officers learned the men got into a verbal argument at a party being held in one of the apartments. Police said the argument escalated until Marks allegedly drew a black revolver and fired a shot that struck the victim in the stomach, police said.
