Dexter will officially be ringing in the Christmas season Saturday, Nov. 24 in Monument Park with the annual lighting of the Christmas tree, the Dexter Patch reports.

The event will last from 10 a.m. to dusk and the actual lighting of the tree will take place at 5:30 p.m. There also will be caroling at this time.
The tree lighting takes place as part of the all-day Winter Festival sponsored by the Dexter Area Chamber of Commerce.
According to the Patch report, there will be several activities throughout the day held at local businesses such as a coloring contest at Aubree's Pizzeria & Grill, stories at Dexter Pub and a Santa available for visits from noon to 3 p.m. in the park's gazebo.
