Pittsfield Township man chases, subdues man who attempted to steal items from his car

A Pittsfield Township resident chased and caught a 44-year-old Ann Arbor man who was attempting to steal items from his car while it was parked in his driveway Saturday morning.

Pittsfield Township police gave details about the incident in the weekly crime summary released Wednesday afternoon. The incident was reported at 5:55 a.m. Saturday in the 3600 block of Hillside Drive when a homeowner noticed a man inside his car, parked in a driveway.

The homeowner confronted the Ann Arbor man and then chased him on foot, according to police. The homeowner eventually caught the man and held him until police arrived on scene.

The man didn’t get anything from the car and was lodged at the Washtenaw County Jail on suspicion of attempted larceny from a motor vehicle.
