Man killed after being hit by passing train in Ypsilanti

A man was killed Thanksgiving morning after being struck by a passing train in Ypsilanti.

The Ypsilanti Police Department was dispatched to the railroad tracks, 100 yards north of Forest Avenue at 9:25 a.m. after receiving a call from railroad employees who discovered the man during a routine patrol of the tracks.

Police determined the man was hit by a train and succumbed to his injuries.

The man is in his 40s or 50s and of Caucasian or Hispanic descent. At this time, the deceased has not been identified and the investigation is ongoing.

More information was not available from the police department.
