Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office deputies pulled a motorcycle out of the Huron River on Wednesday morning and are still working to determine how the bike got there.
Sheriff’s office spokesman Derrick Jackson said deputies responded at 7:59 a.m. Wednesday to the river near Huron River Drive and North Maple Road. The sheriff's office dive team was doing a training exercise when the motorcycle was discovered, Jackson said.
The sheriff’s office’s marine division was sent to the scene and pulled the motorcycle out of the water, he said. However, it’s still unclear to whom the motorcycle belongs and how it got into the river.
The report is not finished and the case is still under investigation, Jackson said. No missing persons reports have been filed and no one was found injured in connection with the motorcycle.
The motorcycle's license plate dates back to 1993, Jackson said.
