To aid Northern United Brewing Company in its local expansion plans, the Dexter Village Board of Trustees unanimously approved a tax abatement for the company, the Dexter Patch reports.
Northern United, the parent company of Jolly Pumpkin, has plans to expand its existing Dexter operations and to redevelop an industrial building at 2319 Bishop Circle for a brewery, winery and small distillery with a tasting room.

The Dexter Village Board of Trustees approved an industrial facilities tax exemption for six years for about $1.5 million in real property and seven years for about $1.6 million in personal property, according to the report.
To keep up with demand and consolidate operations, the plans include moving a brew house from Traverse City to Dexter. The expansion, the Dexter Patch reports, will bring 20 jobs to the community.
There is a Jolly Pumpkin restaurant and brewery location in downtown Ann Arbor.
