A 24-year-old man was sentenced to 120 days in jail for ignoring a flashing red light and causing a crash that led to the deaths of two Belleville women, the Observer & Eccentric reported.
Rufus Thomas Brandon II was driving Danielle Beavers, 19, and Brooke Kennedy, 18, home from the Ruby Tuesday restaurant where they worked about 2 a.m. July 24, when he ignored a flashing red light at Canton Center Road and Michigan Avenue in Canton, the newspaper reported.
A Monte Carlo struck Brandon’s Chevrolet Cavalier, killing the two women.
The judge said Brandon could start serving his sentence Dec. 19, after he finishes his semester finals at Eastern Michigan University.
