The Ypsilanti man police arrested after they found him hiding in a bush was arraigned last week on robbery and home invasion charges, court records show.
Isom Hamilton, 23, was charged Nov. 22 with armed robbery, first-degree home invasion, second-degree home invasion and third-degree home invasion, police said.
Ypsilanti police Sgt. Thomas Eberts confirmed he is the suspect in home invasions that took place Nov. 20 in the area near the 200 block of Oakwood Street, where Hamilton was taken into custody that afternoon. The third-degree home invasion charge stems from an attempt to break into a residence on Oakwood to hide while being chased by police, Eberts said.
At 4:40 p.m., a 51-year-old resident heard a commotion inside his home in the 1300 block of West Cross Street. The man then saw someone coming out of one of the windows.
The victim confronted the suspect, who police said threatened to harm the resident. Ypsilanti police said Hamilton stuck his hand in his pocket and insinuated he had a gun, which is the cause of the armed robbery charge.
The victim called 911 while the suspect fled.
Ypsilanti police searched the area yard by yard and found Hamilton hiding under a large bush at another home. Police said they found all the personal property reported stolen from the 51-year-old man's home, including a laptop computer, several game systems, a video camera, a digital camera, jewelry, small bags of loose change, numerous video games and other electronic items.
The suspect also had other property believed to have been taken in other home invasions, police said.
He is being held in the Washtenaw County Jail on a $10,000 cash or surety bond.
