Keith Haynes of Whitmore Lake wants to help the Humane Society of Huron Valley and give his English bulldog Martini maximum exposure. Martini, who has his own Facebook page, will also be featured on his family's Christmas cards this season thanks to the Humane Society's "Pet Photo with Santa" fundraiser at Pet Supplies Plus.

Saturday and Sunday, pet photographer Jill Andra Young is snapping photos of pets with Santa Claus. The cost is $12 for a framed photo on site, and $10 of that goes to the Humane Society of Huron Valley.

"It's a fun way to raise money," said Humane Society volunteer Chrissie Johnson, who said there was a steady stream of owners and pets Saturday at the store's Plymouth Road location.

"Le'la is like my little child," said Gamola Fotenberry of Ann Arbor about her 3-year-old Yorkie poodle, who will be featured on her Christmas cards.

She was not alone in her sentiment.

"Our dogs are our kids," said Katie and Paul Lenihan about their New Finland poodle mix Reese and their black lab Murphy.

Minso Kim of Ann Arbor stopped by Pet Supplies Plus to buy her dog treats and decided to capitalize on the photo opportunity for a different reason.

"It's my toy poodle Richy's second birthday," she said with a smile.

Young has been photographing pets since 1989.

"I've volunteered for Humane Society events for years and have had a fabulous response," said Young. "Everyone wants to get something for their donation."

As far as her secret to getting a dog to pose with Santa, Young has no single answer.

"All dogs are different," she said. "You have to read the dog and read the parent, and try anything that works."

Sunday's event will take place from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Pet Supplies Plus at 2224 South Main Street, in the Busch's plaza.
