Deputies said a man walked into the gas station about 4:30 a.m. and approached the 20-year-old woman working behind the register.
The man showed the woman a handgun and told her to get money out of the cash register. After being given the money, the man fled the area on foot in an unknown direction.
Deputies responded at 4:40 a.m. Saturday to the gas station, 2190 W. Michigan Ave. but were unable to find the man.
A manager at the gas station declined comment when reached by AnnArbor.com Monday morning. No one was injured in the robbery.
The store’s security cameras captured video of the man wearing a black overcoat and black hat. Deputies are looking for any information leading to the man’s arrest.
It's the second time a gas station in Ypsilanti Township has been robbed during the last week. An ATM, cash and cigarettes were stolen during an armed robbery at a Dairy Mart and Circle K gas station on Textile Road on Nov. 26. The same Dairy Mart was also robbed two weeks earlier.
Anyone with information on the Saturday robbery is encouraged to call the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office anonymous tip line at 734-973-7711 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800 SPEAK UP (773-2587).
