More than 40 firefighters from several departments responded to the blaze at Schooner Cove apartments off Huron River Drive.
WXYZ captured a video of the rescue, which shows the firefighter — with the name Gravelle on his suit — reaching into a third-floor apartment for several minutes as flames approach.
The rescue happened shortly after 1:30 p.m. Firefighters extended a ladder to the window and used it to smash the glass.
