Court records show Antonio Frank Thomas was in court Monday for a pretrial hearing. Thomas is charged with armed robbery, assault with intent to rob while armed, assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do bodily harm less than murder and assault with a dangerous weapon.

He’s scheduled to return to court at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 4 in front of Washtenaw County Trial Court Judge Darlene O’Brien, according to court records.

According to police, Thomas and other men attacked the 53-year-old Ypsilanti man at 9;15 p.m. Aug. 12. Police said Thomas and the other men beat the alleged victim, breaking his jaw and shooting him in the eye with a pellet gun causing permanent blindness. The attackers then went through the man’s pockets, police said.

According to prosecutors, Thomas and the alleged victim knew each other for years before the incident.

Thomas is lodged at the Washtenaw County Jail on a $150,000 bond. If convicted he faces a maximum of life in prison.
