Officials say black ice is to blame for a semi truck and mini-van accident that closed Interstate 94 at Jackson Road early Tuesday morning.
The Ann Arbor Fire Department was dispatched to I-94 at 1 a.m. Tuesday for the accident, according to a news release.
The semi had hit an older-model minivan on the driver's side door, the release said. A man was trapped inside the van, but fire crews quickly extricated him. The man was taken to the University of Michigan Hospital with minor leg injuries.
The driver of the semi was treated by Huron Valley Ambulance at the scene.
An investigation revealed that the minivan was entering eastbound I-94 from Jackson when the driver encountered black ice and slid into the path of the semi, according to the release.
Ann Arbor and state police shutdown eastbound I-94 for a few hours until the road commission attended to the area.
