The car, traveling on snow-covered South Prospect Street, slid into the Ypsilanti Community Church at 333 S. Prospect about 11:30 a.m., said Ypsilanti Fire Capt. Dan Cain.

The man driving the car, a Saturn, was not hurt, but the impact broke a gas meter, allowing natural gas to leak into the building, Cain said.

Firefighters shut off the gas, and DTE came to the church to make repairs.

Cain said there was a gaping hole in the building.
