A 64-year-old man suffered a cut to his head early Wednesday when someone threw an object at him.

Ann Arbor police Lt. Renee Bush said the object struck the man while he was in the stairwell of an apartment complex in the 700 block of Miller Avenue. Police responded to the apartment complex at 3:04 a.m. Wednesday, Bush said.

The cut on the back of the man’s head was severe enough that he needed to be transported to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for treatment.

At this point, police do not have a suspect in the case. It's not clear what the object was.

Anyone with information on the incident is encouraged to call the Ann Arbor police anonymous tip line at 734-794-6939 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP (773-2587).
