Elvin “Al” Ritt, the former longtime Dexter athletic director whose name adorns the school’s football stadium, passed away March 8, according to a report in the Dexter Leader.
Ritt, 77, was Dexter’s athletic director from 1975-89 after serving in multiple coaching positions. Before coming to Dexter, Ritt played minor league baseball for the Kansas City Athletics in Grand Isle, Neb.
Family and friends will gather at Dexter United Methodist Church on Friday, March 15 from 2-4 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. A farewell will be held the following day at 1 p.m.
