Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office deputies said the burglary occurred during the overnight hours at a store operated by Habitat for Humanity at 170 Aprill Drive in Scio Township. The facility, called The ReStore, is a warehouse containing donated items, which Habitat for Humanity then sells to raise money for its work.
Deputies said the suspect hid in the store after closing on Sunday and broke into the main office. While in the office, the suspect stole a safe box, which contained cash from weekend’s worth of sales.
No suspect description was released Tuesday morning and deputies are actively investigating the incident.
Anyone with information on the burglary is encouraged to call the Wasthenaw County Sheriff’s Office anonymous tip line at 734-973-7711 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP (773-2587)
