A thunderstorm that rolled through the area late Monday has left about 400 DTE Energy customers without power on the north side of Ann Arbor.
Power has been out in the area since about 3 a.m. Tuesday. The estimated restoration time is between 3 and 5 p.m. Tuesday, said Scott Simons, spokesman for DTE Energy.
The storm caused a 40,000-volt power line to come loose from a pole and make contact with a 13,200-volt power line located lower on the pole, Simons said.
The contact caused numerous problems on the circuit, including a power surge, Simons said. DTE Energy crews are actively working to restore power in the area, Simons said.
Simons said he’s unsure if any power poles had fallen down in the storm.
The western boundary of the outage is at Newport Road. From the intersection of Miller Avenue and Newport, the outage extends east to the Huron River and a portion of Argo Park. The northern boundary of the outage is an area just north of M-14.
