Ann Arbor police Detective William Stanford said Wednesday Richard Wilson was arraigned on the felonies at the Washtenaw County Jail earlier in the afternoon. Wilson is accused of sexually assaulting a 67-year-old Ann Arbor woman in his apartment in the 900 block of South Maple Road.

Stanford said Wilson knew the woman because she often called him to do odd jobs around her home, such as fixing the sink or doing other repairs.

“He basically wanted to take the relationship to another level,” Stanford said.

On the night of the incident, Wilson and the woman had gone to dinner and then went back to his apartment, Stanford said. It was there Wilson allegedly forced himself on the woman, prevented her from leaving and got violent, Stanford said.

The woman reported the incident to police shortly after the alleged assault and police began searching for Wilson. He eventually turned himself into police Tuesday morning after a short period of hiding, Stanford said.

Jail records show Wilson was held at the Washtenaw County Jail Wednesday afternoon. Information on his bond and next scheduled court date was not immediately available from jail records.
